McDonald's Commission — Tribute to Joan Miró

This mural was created for 𝗠𝗰𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗱’𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻 at a local franchise, a massive 𝟲 𝘅 𝟲𝟮 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝘁 artwork completed in a record time of just 𝟭𝟴 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀.
The timeline was as follows:
• 9 days for research, composition, and drawing
• 9 days for the painting process
𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗾 𝗚𝗶𝗹𝗹 paid homage to 𝗝𝗼𝗮𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗿ó by exploring abstract expressionism through his distinct thoughts, color palette, rhythm, and compositional form.
The Commission
For the McDonald’s project, Tariq Gill presented a portfolio of small paintings, approximately 1.6 × 1.5 inches, to the McDonald’s director at the time. Impressed by his abstract compositions, distinctive treatment of the human figure, and individual visual language, the director commissioned Tariq Gill to undertake the project nearly three decades ago.
Tariq Gill then independently completed the entire project in a record time of just 18 days—nine days dedicated to research, composition, and drawing, followed by nine days of painting.
