About the Artwork
Dreaming in the Wilderness is a contemporary figurative mixed media painting (acrylic, ink & charcoal) by Tariq Gill, a Contemporary Pakistani Artist, exploring the instinctive bond between humanity and the untamed world. A symbolic male figure stands quietly within a solitary landscape, accompanied by an owl resting upon his shoulder while a bull moves calmly through the space behind him. The penetrating gaze shared by both the man and the owl conveys heightened awareness, intuition, and quiet inner strength, while the bull introduces a symbolic presence of resilience, endurance, and natural vitality. Near the horizon, a small stretch of dry land reinforces the stillness and isolation of the environment, allowing the landscape to function as both a physical setting and a psychological space. Through expressive figuration, layered symbolism, and his distinctive visual language, Gill invites viewers to reflect on the enduring relationship between human consciousness and the primal forces of nature.
